As far as her other pain, he was going to have her see a specialist, a neurologist, so they could get an idea of what’s going on with the nerves and the brain.
He said they’ll probably do an MRI. And then I told him she’d already had one at the beginning of this year when we went to the ER at Primary Children’s Medical Center, when she was getting weird stuff happening with her vision.
So, then the doctor said “Well, I can’t think of anything else to check for. I’ve never diagnosed or treated a child with fibro, but it sure seems like she’s got it”.
(Side note- this doctor is the coolest MD I’ve ever met! He is not afraid of new ideas or possibilities that he is not familiar with! He said he is going to have to start doing research in Fibro in kids. So, Kudos to our ‘Rock-tastic’ Dr Miles!!!!!!)
So, he is having her take a VERY small dose of a muscle relaxer at bed time, the same one I take, only a much smaller dose. He is hoping this helps!
My wonderful mother found a couple useful web sites for me, I wanted to post one in case anyone was interested in reading up on it:
http://health.learninginfo.org/fibromyalgia-children.htm
In this site, and in a book I’ve read, some children actually grow out of it! So, I’m hoping and praying that this is how Savannah’s fibro will be!
Her fibro will be treated Very much the same way as mine. Exercise, but not overdue it, and lots of support from family and friends!
In other news, I currently sound like a canadian goose that swallowed a fog horn!!
2 days ago I took a nap while Mark was watching the kids, and I woke up with no voice. I felt fine though. But, by the time night hit, I was feverish and every inch of my skin hurt! (don’t ya just love that feeling!?!?!?!)
During the night I started learning how to do impressions of a “Canadian-foghorn!” LOL I feel like I’m trying to cough up my lungs! Oie! Not much fun!
Moving on now, our puppies are almost 2 weeks old now, and none have opened their eyes just yet. That happens at about 14 days. So, thats pretty soon now… WEEEEEEEE!
We have one that we think is trying to sing!!! I kid you not!!! Mark and the girls came up with a great nick-name for that pup, Elvis!
(They were trying to come up with a cute singers name) Anyway, its adorable to listen to him sing!!! LOL
The girls LOVE this part of the puppy thing! They get to name a pup ANYTHING they want, and in this litter, they get to name 2 each!
Mark and I came up with a GREAT name for our grey and black dapple colored one.
I was suggesting something that might make you think of an “inkblot”, or splattered paint, but sound more name-ish. So mark typed in Inkblot, and he found the name of the guy who invented the very first inkblot test, and we named that pup after him.
Rorschach! (pronounced Rore-shack)
I love it cause its So… different, and its meaning ROCKS!
I’m still trying to convince Mark that we should keep him!!!!
So, in 6 weeks or so, we’ll see what happens there! ;)
My thought for the week:
“If “that which does not kill you makes you stronger”, having Fibromyalgia must make me invincible!
unknown
Goodnight folks!
