We have “our lucky fishing spot” that my family has been fishing at since I was a kid.
This picture is from the perspective of Right where we fish from:
We were not able to get that spot, so we traveled around the lake till we found a spot that was not taken.
We found a spot that we had never fished from before, it had a board walk that went Right up to the water, but all around the walk way was marshy, smooshy wet ground. But, it was the only spot. So we set up and and threw our poles out and sang our little fishy call: “Here fishy fishy fishy” LOL
About 45 minutes into it, we started catching fish.
And I was getting flash back from when I was a kid as my dad spent all his time bating hooks and taking fish off poles and putting them on the stringer!
Because Mark didnt reel in a single fish! He spent the hole time bating hooks, casting, taking fish off poles, and doing all that slimy fun! It was SO remanisant (sp) of my childhood! Someone was always reeling in a fish when my dad was around! We started saying that my dad could always pull out fish in a lake that everyone else was getting ‘skunked’ at! And it really was true! He has the “fish powers”. It always made for Great fishing trips!
One funny part of our day was Savannah was reeling in a nice fighting fish, and got it right up to the shore, (which was thick with a water grass) and right as she was about to pull it up out of the water, it snapped the line!!!!
I was SO excited about the size of that fish I actually jumped into the marshy grass covered water and tried desperately to grab him! But he very literally slipped through my fingers!!!
Aaah well!
By 11:30 we caught our limit and so we packed up to leave!
My girls favorite part about going fishing, besides reeling in the fish, is walking back to the car holding ALL THE FISH where EVERYONE could see!!! Because they always get people stop and say “WOW, look at those fish!” “Good Job! Did you get those all by yourself?” And they just GLOW with pride! Its adorable!!!
Monday evening we went up to Silver Lake again, with Matt and his kids. We got up there near 5:00, and we were very close to “our” spot, so we set up the poles, and the kids found a Great rock just behind us that they could climb up (Very big rock, more like a piece of the mountain) They would get up to the top, and there was a meadow there, and they got to see several deer wondering around through the trees just past the meadow! They had more fun there then they did fishing!
Fishing was a little slower then last time, but we were the only ones catching anything as far as we could see. The family next to us, in “our” spot didnt catch a thing, and kept asking us what we were using, and how long we’d been there! hehe They just didnt know, we have Magic Fishing Powers!!!! LOL
We caught 5 fish! All the kids got a chance to reel in 1 fish, and just before we left, Austin got to reel in one more! And Man was he Excited!!!!!!!! It was adorable!
Matt took pictures while we were there, so tonight after work, he is gonna let us upload those pictures, then I’ll post those! :)
We also went fishing about a week previous, and on our way back to the car we saw a big moose! We were thankfully VERY far away from it, but there were people who were getting dangerously close to it! Some times you wonder if people understand what the words "Wild Animals: means!!!!
For real, I mean,… they are dangerous, as well as Very magnificent creatures!
