An eventful Labor Day
Posted by: Momy'O
The girls and I went to my moms house after dinner to pick grapes from Nana’s and Papa’s grape vines. The girls were having a great time…. Then, there was something that kinda changed the night.

Savannah was standing on a small step stool by Nana picking grapes, the chain link fence was right in front of her. Some how she slipped and fell onto the top of the fence, which is lined with sharp metal prongs.
My mom was right by her and was able to quickly get to her. But she was hanging on the fence by her shirt.
She had gotten very scraped up on her belly, and actually cut her nipple in half.

We took her to the ER, where she was very brave… until she heard the word “stitches”! Then she fell to pieces! The sound of ‘stitches’ scared her to death!

The doctors and nurses were Great! They talked right to her, and helped her understand how things were gonna happen, and that it really wouldn’t hurt, and that the shot to numb her would be the only somewhat painful thing about it.
The poor sweet little thing kept saying “I wish this day never happened”.

On a happier note, we had a great day before that! We spent the day up at Silver Lake with cousins and grandparents. They had a great time climbing on rocks, and checking out the fun stuff in the ranger station. (which oddly enough has rubber animal poop in it, labeled with what animal it would have come from. So if you happen to be walking around and see poop, you can identify which animal it was left the lovely droppings.) LOL
They had a blast!
Then, on our way home we did more Rock hunting as a family, stopping anywhere that looked like it might have fun new rocks to discover.

As we were on our outdoor adventures, Savannah managed to get a scrape ALL down one shin! Looks kinda icky, but thankfully we had our first aid kit in the car and was able to clean it up and get her back on her feet. Then she went right back to rock hunting!

So all in all, it was an eventful day!
