Ever since Savannah’s cousin, Aabrey, got her ears pierced, Savannah has talked about wanting to get her ears pierced.
But, we know that there are responsibilities, that we weren’t sure if she was ready for yet.
She begged, and pleaded, saying that she would “Do ANYTHING”!
So, I pointed out that she was not able to keep her room clean, and that taking care of pierced ears is a responsibility, just like keeping her room clean.
So, I gave her a challenge.
I told her that if she could keep her room clean for 1 month straight, she could get her ears pierced!

I have been trying for years now (literally) to find a way to help the girls be motivated to keep their room clean.
I honestly didn’t think this would work either.
But it did!!!!!
Both girls got REALLY into it!
Every single day their room was clean, and every night before bed they would check it and clean up without one reminder from me!
I was AMAZED! But I didn’t think it would last a whole month!
BUT IT DID!!!!

So, this last Friday Savannah reached her goal of keeping her room clean for a month. Saturday morning we took her in to Clairs, and got her ears pierced!
I called before hand and asked how much experience she had piercing little kids ears, and she was MORE then qualified in my opinion!
When we got there, we asked for her, and she was Marvelous with Savannah!
Talked to her for a long time telling her all the things she will need to be doing every day, 4 times a day, and just preparing her for it.
When she did it, Savannah said she didn’t feel a thing!
SWEEEEEEEEET!
The piercing gun she had was much better then when I had my ears pierced! It used to be a loud clunky thing, but this was sleek and even soundless!

She has been SO cute about it!
Showing EVERYONE she see’s and calling Everyone she knows to tell them about it!
She even asked me if I was going to blog about it! haha
What a cutie!

Kiera also earned the right to get her ears pierced too, since they share the room, but she was not sure about the ear piercing thing. So, we let her pick ANY movie she wanted from the store, and we’d buy it for her!
Man… she was Excited! That is what motivated her!!!!!!
Its funny too, because she has talked about buying a Tinker Bell movie for a month now, and instead she picked Ice Age 3!

Just goes to show that kids always surprise you!

I also wanted to add, that they still have a motivation to keep up on their room. I told Savannah if her room got bad again, I would take her ear rings out and keep them. So she has been Very GOOD about KEEPING it clean the past 2 days! :)

So, I hope this little trick keeps working!!!!!!
