Update on life
Posted by: BonBon
When someone you love dearly dies, life seems like it should stop, grief envelopes you, and you feel as though the world should stand still;… but it does not. Life goes on.
Our girls went back to school, Mark went back to work, and me back to the daily routine I have been in for a while now.

One thing I started about a week after the girls started public school, was I started going into Kiera’s class to help the teacher with ‘reading time’.
I take each child out, one at a time, into the hall, and they read a paragraph for me. I make notes on how they read, and any notes for the teacher that might help her understand where their reading level is at.
The teacher is a GREAT teacher, but with 27 students, she can’t take one-on-one time with each kid and try to help them in their reading.

It has been VERY good for me too!
I went from homeschooling full time, to NOTHING! It was VERY odd for me!!!!
So, helping out in the class room helped me, and helped them.
Win win!
It has also been a lot of fun to get to know each of these sweet little kids!
Now when I see these kids, some give me HUGE hugs, others a high 5! Others come up and start telling me ALL about their days!
(wow… It just occurred to me that you can almost see the different communication styles that each child has, just by that information! Wow!)

Oh, I found out about a school that I am VERY impressed with. It is run like a charter school, but it is a public school! They have small class sizes, strict “no tolerance” policy, (which I LOVE!) and they require all parents to volunteer time for 1 hour a week!
So, I was able to get Kiera into her grade, and Savannah’s grade was full, but she is on a waiting list for when an opening comes.
I am SO Extremely excited about this!

We have been having to put up with the public school by us, which we are finding is not a very good fit for us. They claim to have ‘no tolerance’ for things like hitting, yet one of my kids was apparently getting hit very frequently, and the teacher knew, and did nothing but warn him.
As soon as we found out, we got involved with the school behavior counselor, and even got the principal into it after that didn’t fix it. Things have improved…. but its still not a good fit for us.

As far as my health goes, the pain in my feet, still a mystery, my bronchitis (that I got 2 months ago) is nearly all gone. I still cough occasionally from that.

I am now doggie-sitting my Fathers dog, Smokie! He is a Spastic, neurotic, lovable Mini Schnauzer.
My mom started work again last week, and we didn’t want him to be home alone all day.

I have started playing Wii Fit Plus, that I got for mothers day.
I really started just yesterday, and let me tell you… OUCH! LOL
I have been sick with bronchitis for 2 months, and so physical activity has been restricted due to the lovely coughing fits!
But, I’m excited to get going on this!
I’ve done some yoga,.. I’m not too bad on that, I’ve done some kung-fue stuff, that’s fun, and the hoola-hoop game… Let me just say, I could totally lose weight just by playing that over and over! hahahaha
What fun it has been!

We are all excited for summer to get here! Camping, fishing, sunburns…. ok maybe not that. :)
I planted some pumpkins all around my yard, so I’m excited to watch them grow!

Well, that’s it for now!
