True love
Posted by: Bon
Last night I had a very neat experience. My aunt and I went to pick up my grandfather and take him for a visit to see my grandmother.
They have been apart now for 2 weeks.
My grandma has been in a special assisted living home that has special help for people with Alzheimer and dementia.
From day to day we don’t know if she will be her normal sweet self, or if she will be angry and refuse a visit.
So, when we went, I decided to take my guitar and if things were going alright, I would sing to them.

We tried to tell my grandfather that she might not even want him there, depending on her state of mind.
He has been so sad and heart broken for the past 2 weeks! In the car he talked about how his whole reason for living is HER! And how he can’t go on without her with him!
It was So tender I had to hold back the tears!

We arrived at the home, and went in.
My grandpa and grandma hugged and gave each other the biggest kiss! (Which was a HUGE deal because my grandma has not been herself recently!)
Then they sat on the couch together, holding hands, with their heads close together and talking.
I pulled out my guitar, and started playing and singing while they sat, head to head, talking, and making cute “googly eyes” at each other!
It was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen! It really touched me deeply!
I kept hearing tiny bits of their conversation. Things like “I love you Betty, I need you with me!” “We’ll be together soon.” & “We will be together forever.”
This was hard to hear while I sang a variety of love songs, and popular church songs, but I was able to keep it together!
I even had a small audience around me made up of residence and employee’s of the assisted living home. I occasionally got applause and I had one elderly man walk up behind me and start singing along. It was very cute!

So, for those of us stuck in our mundane lives, thinking how hard our situations are, we need to take a step back and think about the things that really matter and remember that love is beautiful, powerful, and can span through the eternities!
