Concrete is like, hard.
Posted by: Mark man of sore muscles.
Ok, so Matt and I said to ourselves. You know what Mark’s basement needs, a window large enough to be a fire escape.

Mark thinks, hey that would be awesome and would be a lot of fun knocking down the wall. Matt I’m sure had more sane thoughts at this point, but did not share them with me.

So we go rent a concrete cutter. We get back and find the window well we dug is not large enough. May I also mention that my property has more rocks then dirt. So Matt starts cutting.

All seemed to go well outside. We then went inside and started matching up cuts. It was not long before neither of us could hardly see. The room immediately filled up with the cement dust. After a couple cuts we tried a couple swings with the sledge hammer. At this point Matt got really light-headed and felt like he may pass-out. I got really nauseous. Long story short we figured cutting concrete in a confined space with a gas powered cutter, kicking out exhaust was not a good idea.

So we returned the saw and broke out the Jack-Hammer. Hours latter we started making a good start.

It was a couple more to get it completed. This is Matt showing the camera his grinder that he used to do the whole thing… um maybe not.

Notice how his pinky is up, Matt is always proper when using his tools.

Matt totally rocks! I started to doubt our success, but Matt pulled it off. There were a couple moments when really large pieces broke off, and that was really satisfying.

In the end we now have a large window in our basement. It makes the room so much more bright. Again, Matt Rocks!

My hycu:
Concrete is real tough.
Cutting a window is nuts.
I am really sore.
