New fun experience
Posted by: Bonzo
Yesterday a good friend of mine told me about try outs for a community play called “Seusical”, which is a Dr. Seuss musical.

So, she told me where the try outs were that evening, and she said its great for kids to be in. So I took the girls over to see what that was all about, and on the way they were undecided if they wanted to try out or not, because they would have to sing in front of people. So, we got there, and both FROZE and started saying “NO NO NO I dont want to”. So I told them to just sit down and we could watch the other kids audition.
After about 25 minutes of watching other kids and adults audition, they both wanted to. So, they picked a primary song they new well, and I filled out the audition paper for them.

When it came time for their turn, Kiera was first, she wanted me to hold her hand as she went up on stage. They had a pianist who played for all the auditions, and Kiera wanted “Once there was a snow man”. So he played, and she sang, and she did VERY WELL! They wanted her to recite or read a story, but she was too embarrassed, so they told her she did wonderful and she could sit down.
Then it was Savannah’s turn.
She walked up pretty confidently, told the pianist what she was singing, which was Pop Corn Popping on the apricot tree. She sang, smiling, and it was Wonderful! Then she read from a Dr Seuss book “The Foot Book”. She did such a Great job!
After they were done Savannah said she wanted to do it again, and again! So apparently she had fun!

On the way home they talked about all the auditions they watched, and how some of them were Really funny.

I figured that the experience of standing in front of strangers, singing, reading and all that was such a good experience! Even if they don’t call us for ‘call backs’, it was a great thing to expose them to.
We will continue to try out of other community events like that as they come up.
